Mary Hardy    Artist Statement
Katrina was a horrific time.  It was numbing and raw for a very long time and there are still moments that surface.  Being a “survivor” has revealed many layers of meaning. These pieces weave together and layer bits of memories, moments and experiences of that time and since.
In those layers are elements of loss but also hope which we found all around us, in the way nature stills and renews itself, in the many hands of those that came, shared, helped, offered hope, and in the way we came together for one another.  Those are the “silver linings”.
